answerthequestion

I'm going to start posting random questions about things I watch or read or hear about or just have been discussing with friends. First up:

Can girls and guys be just friends?

Thoughts? Opinions?
I'd love to hear them, anonymously or otherwise.

they can be friends, but not best friends. someone always falls for the other person, thus ruining the friendship.

I agree with the comment above, someone does always fall for the other one, even if just a little. I have some friends who have a lot of guy friends but I have never been successful in having many that weren't gay, the always end up liking me and it then just becomes awkward. Maybe it is possible, it just hasn't been in my experience.

i have a lot of guy friends. i get along with them better than a lot of my girlfriends. it's more of family relationship than anything though since we've all known each other for so long.

what i can say is that some girls will get extremely jealous of a relationship like that. my best friends girlfriend ended up dumping him, since she felt like she couldn't trust him, because she felt that we were getting together behind her back (gross!)

so yes, i think it's totally possible, but in a roundabout kinda way. no matter what, society will view a man and a woman together as a couple, despite body language, or actual feelings. it's just nature.

Of course they can! I don't feel any underlying sexual tension with most of my male friends, though I can't speak for them...

any two people, regardless of gender or sexuality, can maintain a relationship that doesn't cross the boundaries of friendship. so yes.
whether or not there are romantic feelings involved is case specific i'm afraid.
